Who is setting your fire?

"How lucky you are that in your life you have the opportunity to make changes, and that you are making the changes when it is perfect for you in your life at whatever age or time that may be"  --B. Moore One of the reasons that I have taken the path that I have taken is that I have allowed so many people to influence me and direct my direction. Many times it has been due to a lack of confidence or a will to stand up for myself. I imagine that this is the case for many people today. In general we often lack the ability to overcome the social conversation around us. But it is possible.  I would not necessarily change the past two years, even though it would have saved me countless struggles, trials, failures, and debt... But in looking back and thinking about what it cost me, I also can look back and see what it gave me, the success, triumphs, skills, knowledge, and so much more has come from my motivation to prove everyone wrong about their perceptions of me and my d...

Who do you consult with?

In the search for who we are and the purpose that we have we seek out consultations. Finding the right people to consult with can be a trial and error experience. Many people consult to lead you closer to being like them, or what they understand. While there is nothing wrong in this, it can leave one to feel guilty or question themselves. Searching for who we are, should not lead us into a series of doubt or guilt. Finding the right consultation for your search to who you are:  *Know that not everyone will understand your journey. But there will be people who relate- this is important because someone who is a good consult will not compare their journey to yours, they will relate it to yours. It is up to you to draw the conclusions.  I realized that the more I spent time with people who loved me and had fun with me, I loved myself and had fun with myself.  By surrounding yourself with strong, trustworthy, loving, and respectful people you can learn about yo...

You are Enough

What does it means to be enough?  “You are enough.” A powerful statement that some people accept and some people fight. We think to say these things to people who are down, struggling, battling a war in their mind. We think to remind people that “they are enough” when they question their value, their worth, their life. So often we say these three words to people who are struggling with their "NOW." These people are not the only ones that need to know that “you are enough.” Every single person needs these words said to them daily. Morning. Noon. Night. From the moment they are born to the moment they take their last breathe. People who have their “shit” “together” need to hear this. Every one does. Why? Because being enough does not mean that you are not allowed to be something more. It does not mean that you are not allowed to work, strive, breathe, go, believe, grow, want, something more. Being enough, means that you are not less. You are not below. You are enough just ...

Living Arrangements

I've been living in my place for the last year. And in that time, I've done a lot of shifting. Going through boxes from my parents house and "Spring Cleaning," all year long. The first year of living on my own was about placement . Finding the right place for things. In fact just recently I redid a drawer in my kitchen and so far... so good. I was figuring out where to put things and how to arrange my living environment. The first year was also about getting comfortable, notice the key word getting . Now I'm entering into my second year. And what brought this about was, getting home from work, being absolutely exhausted, over the week, done, toast, beat, and through. I looked around my place, (and it currently has it piles of notes, mail, pictures to be put up) and I think to myself, this is home. So this second year is about being comfortable. Becoming cozy in my home. This is how life is, in each of the paths we take, each transition, and turn. New job. New lo...

Disappointment?

I recently read on a photo "Do everything with a good heart, expect nothing in return, and you will never be disappointed." I pondered it for a moment and considered each piece of the sentence as its own sentence. Do everything with a good heart. --- In our actions we find value, and rewards. Even when we do not expect the outcomes. By acting in a way to serves our heart and our values, we inevitably serve our need for recognition. In fact, when we start to feel good about the choices that we make, rarely do we question our choices. It is almost as if, through our own acceptance, we disregard the need for external acknowledgment. Expect nothing in return. ---- This is where we fall. This is where our hearts get broken. It is not in our actions of good will, good intention, or good moral that fails us. It is in our expectations that others, besides ourselves will value our efforts. The reward in not in the acknowledgement, it is in the action. And actions, can not often gi...
