Intimacy

Humans were designed to be relational. We are often seeking that bond with others. I went to a conference a few years ago that discussed intimacy. This word, intimacy , has become so degraded to mean the physical bond between people in a sexual matter. Let me introduce you to a new perspective on intimacy and how it can actually bring you closer to the person you desire to be and who you were designed to be. Intimacy is by definition: a close, familiar, and usually affectionate or loving personal relationship with another person or group. While most people think of intimacy as that next step in a relationship. Intimacy is forming all around us, with each person we are connecting with. It can be difficult for people to grasp this because of how "sexual" we have made the word. But it is not a sexual word. It is actually, a bond. I tested this theory out and would like to share it with you here. I started to look at intimacy as a conscious choice to be more connected to myse...

become the outcome

You can do it, because you are doing it daily. The choices that we make are reflections of decisions. Whether you think that the decision was made for you or you kind of "just fell into it."  I challenge you to find the moments you made the decision to come to this moment. Hindsight is 20/20 they say, and there is some truth to that. Everyone can be the Monday quarterback, for my sports fans. But how do we take this knowledge and then expand it? How do we become focused on the now? We do this by recognizing the power of our choices and the decisions that we have made. We recognize that when we make a choice it thrusts us into our future. The struggle is, that we often do not recognize the thrust or the change until later. But, if we were conscious about our choices and the thrusts of our decisions, could it be that we end up going exactly where we want to be? Without the hindsight, without the questioning of how we got here. While our focus and drive keeps us headed ...

For What Purpose

"For what purpose?" Rang through my mind as I was thinking about goals, hopes, dreams, direction, etc. Why do we continue to move forward in our lives. Not to mean that we end up staying stagnant, but to mean that there is a force that drives us. What is that force? And more importantly "for what purpose?"  As I reflected on the purpose of my goals, and I started thinking about the goals I had written and taped to my kitchen walls, I started to ask myself: For what purpose do I want these to happen? I imagined asking other people this question about their own goals, and it dawned on me that I should probably ask myself this same question. It reminded me of a tool I learned years ago. This tool is not something that I have dropped, instead I think I allowed my subconscious mind to control this tool. However, bringing it to a conscious level has brought me to this pivotal point in my life "For what purpose?"  Years ago I wrote everything negative I co...

Communication

"Our emotions don’t affect how we communicate, or what we say. In fact, the opposite is found to be true: the way we communicate can influence our mood." - Unknown  Communication comes in several forms. We have verbal communication, non verbal communication, internal communication , and external communication .  Verbal communication is the one we are most familiar with, it is the audible words that leave our mouths and enter the space around us.  Non verbal communication is the second most familiar, it is our body language, our subtle cues that tell others around us what we are or are not saying.  Internal communication does have a business definition but let me create a new concept for us momentarily. Internal communication is the way we speak to ourselves, the thoughts that we think, the role playing we do in our head. It is the "read to yourself" voice that we all have but rarely pay any attention to it because no one want...

The past in the present

Seven years ago I made a public complaint about a flight situation. I know this because social media has decided it is a good idea for us to relive the past each day. It is like groundhogs day every day, reliving the same day over and over again, only in this one it is the "This day in history" version of our lives. Well this morning as I was reading about this flight situation, I honestly sat silently staring at the wall trying to remember where I was going on this flight, why I was flying, and why it is was so important that I get where I was going on a certain day. And folks I can't remember. Not because I'm losing my memory, though sometimes I feel that way. I can't remember because it is not important today. Seven years to the date of this situation that I had the need to make a complaint, and I have no idea why I was complaining. I have no idea why I was upset. This reminds me of the saying, "If it is not going to matter 5 years from now, don't sp...

Moving Forward

Today I made a change. For the last 7 years I have been "Nomadicbee" and while I am still very much that wondering person of this world that I live, it just was not fitting with me to take my next direction of life into the world of Nomadicbee, and so I changed the name of this blog because I wanted to keep so much of the material here on this site without sending people all over the world wide web searching for the links to what I had written and what I am going to write. So it is the same Nomadicbee, with a new purpose and face lift. Enjoy-- xoxox

The Self

As a student in a graduate program, but mostly as a human in the world I find myself often taking into consideration the self that I am. Through not just the requirements of a program, but the requirements of life I find myself seeking out understanding of who I am and what my purpose is on this earth. While many would say that you can never know what exactly your purpose is, they do not know my relationships. These relationships lead me deeper into knowledge and through this knowledge and seeking prayer I find myself furthering to understand that I am destined for something, to be someone. And I think that we all are. All people are planted here as trees for a purpose, to grow through light, nurturing, and water. As we grow where we are planted our influences leave us and become planted somewhere else. It is through these nurturing motions that we shine and essentially CHANGE THE WORLD. I often wonder if this is humility or the complete opposite. To be aware, to know, and still desir...
