The Self

As a student in a graduate program, but mostly as a human in the world I find myself often taking into consideration the self that I am. Through not just the requirements of a program, but the requirements of life I find myself seeking out understanding of who I am and what my purpose is on this earth. While many would say that you can never know what exactly your purpose is, they do not know my relationships. These relationships lead me deeper into knowledge and through this knowledge and seeking prayer I find myself furthering to understand that I am destined for something, to be someone. And I think that we all are. All people are planted here as trees for a purpose, to grow through light, nurturing, and water. As we grow where we are planted our influences leave us and become planted somewhere else. It is through these nurturing motions that we shine and essentially CHANGE THE WORLD.
I often wonder if this is humility or the complete opposite. To be aware, to know, and still desire the influences of other's growth. I think what it comes down to is I expect more from others than they expect from themselves. Could it be that I offer the opportunity for them to see the world from my perspective, as I have been viewing the world through theirs? To change the world requires a different viewpoint, not the same. If the same is all we have to give, then the same is all that can be given in return.
As the growing tree, I know that growth grows towards the light... it is why if you look at trees they seem to wave and move with the rising and setting sun. That is magic. How come people cannot be that same magic?
I could become political. I could rise up and make statements. I could ignite fires of fury because of truth and honesty and what is actually RIGHT. OR. I can inspire, a world that I know has the same opportunity as the next person. We all have the same chance to shift the world in any direction we choose, I just seem to choose to shift it towards hope in tomorrow, and towards hope in people.
